Troubleshooting Social Media Posting
Fix connection issues and posting failures
Most issues with posting to Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube are caused by expired connection tokens or platform-specific limits. This guide covers how to reconnect your accounts and resolve common error messages.
If you are looking for setup instructions, check our guide on Publishing to TikTok, Instagram & YouTube.
Reconnecting Your Accounts
The most common fix for posting failures is refreshing your connection. Security tokens for social platforms expire periodically to keep your account safe. If a post fails, this is the first step you should take.
Go to your Account Settings.
Scroll down to the Social Accounts section.
Click the Connect button next to the platform giving you trouble (e.g., "Connect TikTok").
You will be redirected to the platform's login page. Log in and authorize the permissions.
Once redirected back, your token is refreshed. Try posting again.
You do not need to disconnect the account first. Clicking "Connect" will overwrite the old token with a new, valid one.
Common Error Messages
"The access token is invalid" or "User not authorized"
Cause: Your permission token has expired or was revoked (e.g., if you changed your password on the social platform).
Fix: Follow the reconnection steps above to generate a new token.
"Quota exceeded" or "Rate limit reached"
Cause: You have hit the daily posting limit set by the platform.
Fix: Wait 24 hours before posting again. See the Platform Limits section below for specifics.
Platform-Specific Troubleshooting
"Instagram not letting me post": Ensure you are using an Instagram Business Account linked to a Facebook Page. Personal and Creator accounts often do not support automatic posting via third-party apps.
"Media not ready": This usually means Instagram is still processing your video. If this persists, check that your video meets the aspect ratio requirements (9:16 for Reels).
TikTok
"spam_risk_too_many_posts": TikTok enforces a strict limit of 15 posts per 24 hours for third-party tools. This is a hard limit from TikTok that cannot be bypassed.
"spam_risk_user_banned": Your account may have been temporarily restricted by TikTok for community guidelines violations. Check your account status directly in the TikTok app.
YouTube
"Cannot upload videos longer than 15 minutes": Your YouTube account is likely unverified. To post videos longer than 15 minutes (up to 12 hours), you must verify your YouTube account with a phone number.
"Quota exceeded": YouTube has strict daily API upload limits. If you post many videos in a short time, you may need to wait until your quota resets the next day.
Platform Limits Reference
If your video fails to upload without a specific error message, it may exceed one of these limits:
Platform | Max Duration | Max File Size | Daily Limit |
|---|---|---|---|
TikTok | 10 minutes | 500 MB | 15 posts / 24 hours |
Instagram (Reels) | 15 minutes | 4 GB | Varies (monitor for spam blocks) |
YouTube | 12 hours (Verified) | 128 GB | Varies by account history |
Note: These limits are enforced by the platforms themselves. We cannot override them.
