Troubleshooting Export Issues
Diagnose and fix common problems when exporting your videos
While most exports complete within a few minutes, you might occasionally encounter issues like rendering failures, timeouts, or download errors. This guide helps you identify the cause and get your video exported successfully.
Note: Our system automatically retries failed exports once using an alternative rendering method. If your first attempt fails, please wait a moment to see if the automatic retry succeeds.
Common Export Errors
If an export fails, you will typically see an error message in the export modal or your dashboard. Here are the most common ones:
"Something went wrong" (Status 500): A general server error occurred during the rendering process.
"Rendering timed out": The export took longer than the 15-minute limit. This often happens with very long videos or complex projects with many high-resolution assets.
"Error while rendering": Often followed by a specific message about a media asset (e.g., an image or video URL) that could not be loaded.
"Subscribe to export videos": You are on a plan that does not include exports, or you have run out of export credits.
Troubleshooting Steps
1. Check Your Media Assets
The most common cause of export failure is a broken link to an external media asset. If you added images or videos via URL:
Check if the original URL is still valid and accessible.
Ensure the file permissions allow public access.
Try replacing the external URL with a direct file upload if possible.
2. Simplify Your Project
If you receive a timeout error or the progress bar gets stuck around 90% for more than 5 minutes:
Your project might be too complex for a single render pass.
Try splitting the video into shorter segments.
Reduce the number of simultaneous high-resolution animations or overlays.
3. Check Your Plan and Credits
If the export button is disabled or prompts you to subscribe:
Go to your Account Settings to check your current plan status.
Verify you have enough export credits remaining for the month.
Free Plan Users: You may be able to generate watermarked previews but cannot download high-quality exports without upgrading.
Download Issues
Sometimes the video renders successfully, but the download fails to start.
Tip: You don't need to keep the export window open. All successful exports are saved to your Exports tab.
If your download doesn't start automatically:
Refresh the page.
Navigate to the Exports tab in your dashboard.
Find your video in the list and click the Download button again.
